As we continue through our series in 1 Samuel we see at least 4 prerequisites for worship in chapter 13. Through the enabling of God we ought to focus on Him instead of our circumstances, trust His word, take responsibility for our own actions, and treasure Him above all else. The absence of these realities in the life of Saul, while to us seemingly unimportant, caused him to lose the extending of his kingly line, and thus we say 'Jesus, son of David' and not 'Jesus, son of Saul'. God, give us the ability to see as You do, treasure what you do, and become more like you through Your Son by Your Spirit.
