April 15, 2018 Preacher: Dan Thomson Series: Life of David
Passage: 1 Samuel 26:1– 28:2
Between 1 Samuel 26 and 1 Samuel 27, there’s a huge change for David. He successfully evades Saul again, yet somehow has a breakdown and feels that he’s in a hopeless situation. To make matters worse, he chooses to go to the enemy to get away from it all! David wins favour with the king of the Philistines and continues to live and act as though he’s an ally with them. The king doesn’t realize he’s being deceived. David may have been too good at earning his trust however: he’s now the king's bodyguard; he may have over-played his hand.
