Community and Valuing Christ Above All Else
August 25, 2019 Preacher: André Dumas Series: Gospel Community
Passage: Colossians 2:6–7
Having believed that Jesus is Christ and Lord, and having been rooted permanently in Him, Christians are commanded to walk in Him with gratitude. Walking in Him is made possible because of Christ who rooted believers in Him. The command to walk in Him is not burdensome if one makes much of Jesus. Because Christians have been rooted in Christ, their walk in Him will not remain fruitless. On the contrary, they will grow in Him and strengthen their faith in accordance with the foundational teaching of the apostles. Such Christians will discern and discard any Christ-devaluing teachings. Christ-focused Christians will actively overflow in thanksgiving beyond the ordinary. May our Gospel Community make much of Jesus and be thankful above all for who God is and what He does so that our worship and gratitude will remain intact and Christ-glorifying, regardless of circumstances.
