Forgotten
February 9, 2020 Preacher: Jeff Eastwood Series: Gospel Sacrifice
Passage: Ecclesiastes 1:9–11
The Preacher asks what profit there is for all the effort we - as humans - expend in this life, and his answer is nothing - insofar as he's talking about what's done solely in this world for this world. He has fleshed out his answer by first of all revealing that our work is insignificant, accomplishing nothing of note despite our seemingly ceaseless toil. He then gives us two more reasons why all of our toil is useless: our efforts don't truly advance the human species (there is nothing new under the sun) and nothing we do is remembered anyway, neither by the current generation remembering history nor future generations remembering us. So what is our hope? Follow along as Pastor Jeff speaks on "Forgotten" from Ecclesiastes 1:9-11.
