The author of Hebrews deals with the humanity of Jesus not as proof that He is less than the angels (or anything else) but as an act of unimaginably loving condescension where He comes down to us and inhabits all that it means to be human so that He can lift His fellow humans up to be all that He is. Our elder brother is simultaneously the Son of God and the Son of Man, lowering Himself to us so He can lift us up to Him. What amazing grace! He fully understands us in our current state and fully enables us to be the perfect version of ourselves He died and rose again to secure.
