FAMILY FUN DAY - POSTPONED - JULY 19th

Timing

June 23, 2024 Preacher: Jeff Eastwood Series: Esther

Passage: Esther 2:19–23

Esther 2:19-23 is quite brief, as is the style of the author of Esther, simply giving the details without much commentary or link to the rest of the narrative, at least not yet. Having read the book, we know how this fits into the rest of the story but for now, we're given a vignette without additional comment or clarity. The event itself is fairly straightforward: Mordecai learns of an assassination plot and, through Esther, warns the king. Yet, there is much more going on then what we see at first glance. Below the surface, we are reminded of the gracious sovereign hand of God always at work through his divine providence, and in particular, that God's timing is always perfect. Rarely do events transpire as we desire them to, but if we can step back and see through God's lovingly holy eyes we understand his timing is impeccable and thus we can trust him in all circumstances.
