Destruction

June 30, 2024 Preacher: Luke Playford Series: Esther

Passage: Esther 3:1–15

In the third chapter of Esther the book takes a dramatic turn for the nation of Israel. Things have gone fairly well up to this point and the Jews have been able to assimilate well to the culture in which they find themselves; that is not so anymore. We learn that Haman, out of revenge for his family lineage and pride in his apparent excellence, wants to destroy all the Jewish people living in the kingdom of Persia because of the disobedience of one person, Mordecai. In seeking out this plan of destruction for the whole nation of Israel, we see so much more destruction that will come as a result of Haman's unchecked arrogance and pride!
