Identity
August 4, 2024 Preacher: Jeff Eastwood Series: Esther
Passage: Esther 7:1–6
The moment has come for Esther, against a backdrop of the incredible beauty of God's providence, to choose her identification. In the face of seemingly insurmountable odds, God has created a series of sudden reversals, just in the nick of time (from our earthly perspective), at least one of which is completely unbeknownst to Esther, as she executes her plan. Esther now openly and fully identifies with her people the Jews, an act that could lead to her destruction and which requires her to identify with those slated for annihilation. It is bold and beautiful and points us to our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ who left his throne above to identify with those under his just wrath, casting his lot with sinners so he could make them saints. Oh, the depths of the riches of the gospel!
