Blessing

September 22, 2024 Preacher: Jeff Eastwood Series: Revelation

Passage: Revelation 1:1–3

For many people, the last book of the bible is hopelessly confusing, a morass of mysterious symbols and confusing descriptions, beyond their ability to clearly understand. For others, the final word from God has become an obsession, every word and phrase poured over to see if answers for our times can be squeezed out and accurate predictions of the future asserted. How sad! This marvelous book is the only book in the bible that carries a special blessing for reading and obeying it, and as the conclusion of God's revelation to us it ought to give us a clear picture of the glory and majesty of Jesus, who conquered sin and death and holds all things in his hand, including the future. No matter how dark circumstances get, King Jesus is on the throne of the universe and is working all things according to the counsel of his own will. We can have hope, and we can serve him faithfully, confident that his wisdom is best and his gracious sovereignty is deeply comforting and convicting. May we begin our study of the Revelation of Jesus Christ with our vision full of him and may that continue through the final verses of this book. All praise to Jesus!
