In Revelation 1:4-8 we have a praise to Jesus for all that He has done for God's creation. We see that His love, His sacrifice, and His eventual return all make up elements of this praise. John is introducing himself to the seven churches in Asia that he is writing the first few chapters of Revelation to and as he does this, he makes sure that they understand who deserves all the praise and glory in their lives: God, the Alpha and the Omega, “The one who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.” John’s description of our Trinitarian Father is meant to evoke praise in our lives for all that He has done.
