Passage: Revelation 8:6–13

This week our passage is Revelation 8:6-13 where we are introduced to the first four of the seven trumpet judgements of God on unbelievers. This judgement first takes the form of what we would call natural disasters, or major disruptions of the planet that deeply impact her inhabitants. These judgements are intended by our merciful Father to engender repentance among unbelievers yet because of the stubborn hardness of their rebellious hearts many will not do so (Revelation 9:20-21). Nevertheless, as with the plagues in Egypt, God provides undeniable evidence that he alone rules over the universe he created, and even in judgement he still stays his hand from the fullness of his wrath. May we be reminded of both the goodness and severity of God this week, rejoicing in his mercy and calling all we know to repent and believe in him.
