Proclamation
March 9, 2025 Preacher: Jeff Eastwood Series: Revelation
Passage: Revelation 11:1–14
Our passage for Sunday is Revelation 11:1-14, said by many to be the hardest passage to interpret in the book. This passage, as others in Revelation, seems to raise more questions than it answers, but once again we must look to the forest and not get bogged down in inspecting the minutia of the trees. John has been recommissioned to continue prophesying at the end of chapter 10 and as he seeks to do so he is given reassurance that he has God's full protection as he does. As we then go out and proclaim truth to a hostile world we can rest as always in the words of Jesus when he assures us that the gates of hell cannot prevail against his church. Though unbelievers hate God and his word, we must love them enough to share God with them and cry out to God for their conversion. If they do not repent, the judgement of God will fall on them, and it will always be greater than any hatred they may inflict on us. This week and always, let us proclaim the truth of the gospel, praying every step of the way that God will save some from the wrath to come.
