Passage: Revelation 14:1–5

In Revelation 14:1-5, we revisit the mysterious 144,000 people first mentioned in chapter 7. Since first being introduced to the 144,000, who represent the people of God, the apostle John has walked us through the seven trumpet judgements, persecutions, and most recently the anti-God activities of two great beasts who "make war on the saints and conquer them" (13:7). How are the people of God faring through this tumultuous time? How many have stood firm and kept the faith they originally professed? As we recall from Revelation 6:17, the question was asked, "who can stand?" when these things come to pass. This week, we'll learn John's answer to that question. We trust you will be encouraged by learning that, as the apostle Paul says in Ephesians 6:13, we are "able to withstand the evil day, and having done all, stand firm".
