Why?

August 10, 2025 Preacher: Jeff Eastwood Series: Summer in the Psalms

Passage: Psalm 74:1–23

This week, we examined Psalm 74, a community lament Psalm written during a horrific time of destruction and seeming abandonment by God. Psalm 74 gives one example among several of attempting to bridge the gap between God's promised presence and the apparent lack of it in a deeply difficult season. Many of us have asked the why question, and not necessarily in a "why me?" way, but in a confused and desperate way, as we lack understanding of how our lived experience matches God's character. The guidance of the inspired Psalmist helps us walk through these valleys we have, are, or will travel through.
