Contrast

September 14, 2025 Preacher: Jeff Eastwood Series: Revelation

Passage: Revelation 17:1–18

On this Sunday, we returned to the book of the Revelation of Jesus Christ with another contrast between the reality of God and the false promises of the Evil One. Chapter 17, together with Chapter 18, is a chronicle of the rise and fall of the kingdoms of men, all scrabbling for the scraps of power, prestige, and possessions offered to them by this world, crushing the followers of the Lamb as much as God allows them in their mad pursuit of temporary and tainted glory. It is a horrific scene, dripping with self-deception, and one that might even cause the saints to feel unsteady if we didn't see God over it all. May we rest in the sure knowledge that, regardless of how frothy the heathen rage, God is graciously sovereign over all, and his Messiah, Son of God and Son of Man, is and will yet rule.
