After a year and a bit, we ended our walk through the book of Revelation this past Sunday with a message from Revelation 22:6-21 titled "Return." The book ends where it began—Jesus will return soon! After nearly 2000 years since Jesus' ascension, this seems disingenuous, but in the light of eternity, the second advent of Jesus is indeed always imminent. As we await Jesus' second coming, we are called to worship him and call others to do the same, all as we are settled in the sure hope that the one who has started the work of sanctification in us will bring us all the way home. Jesus is preparing a place for us, and one day soon he will take us to be with him, and he with us. Especially as we celebrate his first advent, the trustworthy promise of his second is a blessed hope indeed.
