Justice
March 8, 2026 Preacher: Luke Playford Series: The Book of Job
Passage: Job 8:1–22
In Job 8, Bildad boldly defends the justice of God, insisting that God never perverts what is right and that the blameless will always be upheld. While Bildad speaks truth about God's perfect justice, he wrongly assumes that Job's suffering must be the result of his sin. His words remind us that it is possible to say true things about God while still misunderstanding His ways. God is always just, but His justice is often deeper and more mysterious than we can see in the moment. Bildad confidently claims that God does not reject a blameless person. Yet the gospel reveals the surprising way God's justice ultimately unfolds. The only truly blameless man, Jesus Christ, was rejected and suffered in the place of sinners. At the cross, God's justice was not ignored but fulfilled, as sin was judged and mercy was made available.
