Mortality
April 19, 2026 Preacher: Jeff Eastwood Series: The Book of Job
Passage: Job 14:1–22
Job turns his attention to the frustrating brevity of life and the onerous surveillance he feels from God, a seemingly undue level of scrutiny given the frailty of humanity. Yet, he desires a relationship with God as he always has, and he clings to his hope that God seeks the same with him. Perhaps if God could hide him in the place of the dead, affording him respite from the withering gaze of the Almighty, he could emerge to see the shining face of his heavenly father yet again. These themes of human sin, the possibility of restoration and resurrection, and the ever-present hope found only in God all point us to Jesus, the one who lived righteously, died sacrificially, and was raised to life again triumphantly. Thank God for his mercy and grace, beyond our ability to comprehend.
