Justification
June 28, 2026 Preacher: Adam Callaway Series: The Book of Job
Passage: Job 25:1–6
On this Sunday, our guest speaker, Pastor Adam Callaway, shared a sermon titled "Justification" from Job 25. It is by far the shortest chapter in Job, but it summarizes well the position of the three friends: ungodly people cannot be right with God; sinners suffer, as they deserve, and the only hope we have is to repent and do all we can to obey God. The fact that we are sinners is true, and we are often worse sinners than we admit. That said, the corrective is woefully inadequate. Repentance, yes, but our hope cannot ultimately be in our ability to please God with our obedience. Thanks be to God that the good news is so much better than this! We can indeed be in the right before God, and it is indeed possible for those born of woman to be pure (Job 25:4). The gospel is, of course, that Jesus was made sin for us, so that we could be made righteous before God! Thanks be to God for his justifying work, marking our debt paid in full while filling our account with the infinite righteousness of Jesus. May we praise him for this for all of eternity!
