Community and Faith

February 24, 2019 Preacher: Dan Thomson Series: Gospel Community

Passage: Ephesians 2:8–10

How can a dead person save themself? It’s impossible. There has to be a new birth. A new creation. A resurrection. This is our true salvation. So a creation cannot create itself.

Every Christian is hand-crafted by God. There is no assembly line, impersonal template, or cut-out that we’re stamped from. Even twins have unique and obvious differences if you pay attention: some physical, but more so emotionally and in personality. We were fearfully and wonderfully made. We’re all created in God’s image. Therefore, your identity is tied to God Himself. You are therefore incredibly valuable, saveable, and a true reflection of God Himself. You were adopted. You were purchased by the blood of Christ on the cross.

We must not underestimate the significance of this idea of creation - a new creation in Christ Jesus. This is done through the power of God and the activating power of faith.
