Titus 2 Saints is a group of seniors, made up of both men and women who gather monthly for fellowship at Grace Baptist Church. Most would refer to themselves as followers of Jesus Christ or at least seekers of God’s truth.
The apostle Paul wrote a letter to Titus in Crete, instructing him “to set in order the things that are lacking and appoint elders in every city” (1:5) He also instructed Titus to teach and model sound doctrine (resulting through the power of the Holy Spirit, the character and right living that identify true Christians). Chapter two describes some of those instructions, thus the name Titus 2 Saints (T2S)
We invite those who are “older” (55 plus) to join us even when they do not want to self-identify as ‘seniors’ or as some would want to call us; “young at heart”
We desire to come together to worship our God as followers of Jesus Christ. We want to honor Him through worship in song and prayer, to study scripture together and encourage one another.
We invite special speakers as our guests to come and speak to us on a range of topics. The ideas of what topic we might address are usually generated by our T2S member suggestions.
We meet seasonally from fall to early spring and break for the summer. Our format is to gather from 9:30 to 10:00 am for coffee/tea and a snack in the church foyer, then we gather in the library area to interact with a guest, sing some hymns, pray for specific needs & praise God for answered prayer. We open a portion of scripture, read it, and reflect on what it says and how it helps us in our understanding of God’s word and its application to our lives.
We finish up at noon. We share the work of setup, snacks and cleanup. A ministry team meets periodically to plan our gatherings and sometimes we produce a hard copy of a newsletter called, “The Lighthouse”
In early fall we usually meet at someone’s home for a barbeque or meal to kick off our gatherings and reconnect with our friends. During the late spring and summer we meet periodically and perhaps even do a field trip together within the province to places of mutual interest.
We thank all those who support this vital ministry to seniors in our community. Please continue to pray for us, thank them as they serve in various capacities both within Grace Baptist church and the wider community. May our heavenly Father receive all the honor and praise as we live out the gospel in community.
