Looking Ahead

December 31, 2023 Preacher: Jeff Eastwood

Passage: 1 Timothy 4:16

As we wrap up 2023 and head into 2024 we need to be reminded once again to keep the main thing the main thing: the gospel, and not a million different potential distractions, must be our consistent focus. Paul lets Timothy know that if he will do three things (keep a close watch on himself, keep a close watch on the teaching, and persist in these things) he will save both himself and his hearers; a mighty promise indeed. This is not a guarantee of justification as that is God's realm alone, but it is a guarantee of progressive sanctification as staying close to that which saved us will save us and ultimately bring us all the way home to final salvation, glorification. As we look ahead to a new year may we continue to do what we have attempted to do last year: keep our eyes fixed on Jesus!
