Our passage this Sunday is Daniel 1:8-21 and the title is "Rooted". We certainly alluded to Daniel and his three friends' groundedness in the Word of God but the end of this first chapter really bears this out. Knowing God through His Word (and consistent prayer, as chapter 6 bears out) roots Daniel and his three friends to God and His character, making their identity in Him steady and secure and enabling them to stand firm, without wavering, in acting like God despite their circumstances. They are truly God's representatives in a foreign and hostile land, speaking His words and showing His character wherever they go and in whatever situation God puts them in.
