In Daniel chapter 2, Daniel and his three friends face death at the hands of the king, a death that seems certain due to the impossibility of the king's request. Daniel has asked for time and by God's mercy received it, but unless God shows further mercy, they may have only delayed the inevitable. Daniel and his three friends pray for more of God's mercy and He responds by revealing Nebuchadnezzar's dream and its interpretation to Daniel. Daniel praises God and continues that upward focus not just privately but in front of the king himself. What trust, joy, and humility are connected to praising God!
