Daniel 4:19-27 is a warning passage. As Daniel gives the interpretation of Nebuchadnezzar's dream to him, we should clearly see that God, in His sovereign grace, is giving Nebuchadnezzar a chance to see his pride and to turn in repentance from it. In the same way, God does this with His children. There are times when God shows us the depravity of our owns hearts or the effects of following a certain way of life through those who have gone before us. We ought to see these moments for what they are – warnings to turn in repentance and humility while there is still time. Praise be to God that He is a gracious God.
