Worship and Suffering
May 13, 2018 Preacher: Jeff Eastwood Series: Life of David
Topic: Mother's Day Passage: 1 Samuel 30:1– 31:13
Mothering is hard. On a day when we celebrate Motherhood, we can, if we're not careful, feel defeated by the role, especially if we compare ourselves to others or to an imagined ideal that we can never attain. The burden of the eternality of the human soul is too great for us to bear, both our own and any that might be in our care. There are times when we feel like David and his men upon returning to Ziklag and finding their families gone and their camp ransacked- they wept until they could weep no more. So how can we do what God has called us to do? Continually do what David did- strengthen ourselves in the promises of God and the truth of His word. Listen in as Pastor Jeff preaches from 1 Samuel 30 & 31 on the reality of how suffering informs our worship of God.
