The Great Race
May 28, 2023 Preacher: Luke Playford Series: Gospel Fulfillment
Passage: Hebrews 12:1–2
The New Testament is full of metaphors and this week the author of Hebrews uses an athletic metaphor to help his audience understand their faith in Jesus Christ. Christians would love to say that once they come to faith in Christ that life gets easier, and that sin is easily shed but the reality proves to be the opposite. What we know is that the Christian life is a race, full of challenges and weights needing to be thrown aside as we run. In Hebrews 12:1-2 we are reminded of what we need to focus on as we run that race in the power that God provides.
